Most of city without water

Senior manager of Water and Sanitation Brenden Sivpersad explained that uMngeni Water experienced “unforeseen technical challenges” when they tried to turn the water back on yesterday at 2pm.

Areas affected include Edendale, Imbali, Ashburton,  Prestbury, Hilton and upper portions of the CBD.

Umgeni Water is currently attending to the problem and said the water supply should be restored by 10pm tonight.

“The lines are busy being charged up, but the tanks need to fill up first before the water can return to the taps. Over the course of the next ten hours, people should start to get water again,” Sivpersad said.
