Another cyclist mugged in forest

The elderly man, who wished to remain anonymous, had been cycling way up the Growing Parks area when upon reaching an incline he suddenly became aware of a man with a red cap approaching from the corner.

“As soon as I saw him I sensed some kind of danger,”said the man. The cyclist said he then attempted to ride past the attacker to no avail and was then forcibly removed from his bike. He was then roughly searched for any valuables of which he had none and then left to fend for himself.

“Luckily I did not carry my cellphone or any money so all he could only steal was my bike. He then rode over Otto’s Bluff and I’m assuming into the settlements” claimed the man.

The man was then forced to make his way to Cascades, on foot, where he resides. SAPS spokesperson, Mthokozisi Ngobese, confirmed that a case of theft had been opened and that a Mongoose bike valued at R5000 was stolen.

The Growing Parks area has become an issue of concern recently when another cyclist was also robbed of his bike, shoes and cellphone. People are warned that should you wish to use the Growing Parks facilities that you should do so in groups and with caution.
