Howick Falls vendors chase and nab thieves

The incident happened at about 11am, when a visiting school bus pulled into the area and parked close to the public toilets. The children disembarked to view the falls, and the curios and artwork displayed by the vendors, and while they were thus engaged, thieves made their way into the bus and stole two bags. Fortunately, they were spotted by some of the artists, who immediately gave chase – and managed to not only apprehend the thieves but also recover the bags.

Said Love Howick volunteer Rob Askew: “Many thanks to these great guardians and warriors of the falls precinct. We are truly proud of them – and this just confirms what a great area this is becoming. Well done, guys!”

Lorraine Bryant of Hucto (Howick-uMngeni Community Tourism Organisation) echoed his words: “I have said it again and it has been proved … these people are just great. Thank you all for your efforts.”
