City braces for heavy rains and hailstorms

SAWS forecaster, Wiseman Dlamini, said heavy showers estimated at 60% accompanied by thunderstorms are expected in the interior of KwaZulu-Natal.

“In Pietermaritzburg, there will be thunderstorms and showers accompanied by strong winds in the evening travelling at 40km per hour,” said Dlamini.

A probability of 80% rainfall is expected tomorrow (Wednesday) with SAWS warning that this will lead to possible flooding in some areas.

“Residents, specifically motorists in the Pietermaritzburg area, should take necessary measures, such as parking cars in a covered parking and not drive in flooded areas,” he urged.
