Previously, Maritzburg Sun reported that the woman had experienced numerous demonic attacks, including bouts of illness and fainting spells that eventually culminated in full-blown physical attacks where cut marks would spontaneously appear on her body. Although she initially sought medical help, there was no explanation for the mystery affliction and she turned to prayer instead.
Community member and devotee, Celenia Padayachee, said that she had heard of incidents similar to this poltergeist attack and read with horror about the trauma the woman has been through. “It is still not something you get used to, even if you’ve heard stories or incidents before … It brings absolute terror,” said Padayachee.
She added that she’d like to extend a helping hand to the family by referring the woman to someone who can assist with no costs involved.
University of KwaZulu- Natal PhD researcher of African Heritage, Philosophy and Theology, Ernest Nkuzimana, said that in solving the problem, people need to understand spirituality. “Once people know and understand that spirits do exist, that is when you can win the battle against spirits without paying any costs.”
He continued saying the spirits are similar to humans in their function. “They can think, hear and react.”
The 25-year-old’s mother said despite being exploited on numerous occasions by people claiming they could cure the attacks, she finally sees a glimmer of hope as many sincere people have offered help.
“It has been quiet with no recent attacks and I have faith that a solution will be found,” said the young woman’s mother.
