The two men’s bail applications were postponed due to incorrect addresses they had submitted. Both have previously been convicted for a number of housebreakings, robbery, and one with assault. Their convictions date back to the year 2000.
The investigating officer opposed bail because neither man had a fixed address and because of their previous convictions. The officer also said that two more suspects were expected to be arrested soon. On the day of the incident, five people were arrested, with one escaping. The charges were dropped against two Malawians because they were allegedly being used only as drivers and for transportation.
According to Captain Gay Ebrahim of Mountain Rise SAPS, police are still looking for another two men who fired shots during a confrontation with Ballid Security.
