PMB student makes top 10 at the July

Following the theme of “It is Time”, Ntuli created a hand-painted garment expressing the importance of time for a designer.
“I really wanted to portray the importance of time. What it means to people, how it impacts lives. Time is of absolute importance for a designer. It must be used properly,” said Ntuli.
The 21-year-old third-year student from the School of Fashion Design has had a lifelong passion for fashion and would pay attention to her mother’s style.
“She was precise in styling her outfits. She always inspired me and I will always look up to her. I love art and beautiful things. So I love to fuse art and fashion,” said Ntuli.
Priscilla Bhika, principal of the School of Fashion Design, said she is proud of Ntuli and the work that she has produced so far. Bhika emphasised that Ntuli needs a platform where her work will be recognised.
“Nosipho is such a respectful girl and is always so pleasant. She always does her best. We are really chuffed that she was chosen and we are positive that she be in the top three. She has a story that needs to be told. We are supporting her all the way and we are proud of her achievement so far,” said Bhika.
Of the 150 entrants, Ntuli’s design made top the 30 and was then chosen as one of the top ten. The top ten go through two evenings of high fashion at the Vodacom Durban July Fashion Showcase at the Greyville Racecourse on Thursday and Friday evening. The outfits will then be judged by another panel of judges. The top three will then be decided and will only be revealed on the day of the Vodacom Durban July on Saturday, July 7.
Tickets are still available for the two Vodacom Durban July Fashion Showcase shows on Thursday and Friday and can be booked through the event website.
