The arrest of these men aged 27 and 61 was confirmed by the Gauteng Minister of Community Safety Sizakele Nkosi – Malobane at the funeral of these seven family members at Caluza community hall on Sunday. One was arrested at the border between Mpumalanga and Limpopo and the other in Dobsonville, Soweto. A 27-year-old male suspect was arrested and found in possession of bank cards belonging to two of the seven victims.
“We saw the need to assist during these trying times the family is going through. This is one of the most gruesome murders we have recorded in the province in recent times,” said Nkosi – Malobane.
The bodies of the deceased were brought to the venue briefly before the burial‚ owing to their state of decomposition.They were laid to rest at Mountain Rise cemetery.
Their relatives said they were devastated by their loss. “What kind of a person that takes the lives of young children? I am very angry this person does not deserve to live, “ said Melisi Mlambo.
Minister for Women in the Presidency Bathabile Dlamini said it hurt that the victims were suspected to have been harmed by someone they regarded as family.
